Project M-3

I’m well into development of my next Casual Game and things are progressing a lot faster than I had anticipated thanks mostly to an existing game engine and tools.

And while I’m still not the best programmer in the world, I find that when I get a spare hour here or there I can switch straight into game programming mode a lot faster than I did when making Word Shake!

Plus, it’s amazing how much work you can do when you give up TV.

So, what’s the next game about? As I mentioned last post, it’s a match-3 puzzle game. I know I know... there are hundreds of them out there. But I think I have something a little different - a game play twist - that separates my game from the rest of the pack.

And what about the theme? Well, it’s a tried true theme for games. In fact there have already been a few casual games with the same theme.

Yes, shiver me timbers, it’s a pirate game!

Although the game is 2D I’m using a lot of 3D rendered art. Here’s a sample:

Unlike Word Shake! the new game is story driven with a strong original character. Most of my earlier games have always been character driven, such as Halloween Harry, Amazon Queen, Jaruu Tenk and TY the Tasmanian Tiger.

So, the new character is a pirate, but what is he or she going to look like? Well, you’ll have to stay tuned to find out!
